Troop 194 Eagle Recipients
Alex J. I wanted to help others learn the word of God for my Eagle project. I worked with missionaries Jerry and Nancy Novak of Kenya. My project was partially a recycling project. Many times, people get Bibles for Christmas, Graduations, etc, but they already have one. Most of the time, people do not want to throw those away for fear of bad luck. They could donate those Bibles to Kenyans or purchase new ones. I worked with the scouts in the troop to distribute fliers at their church, worked with the Pulse Journal to get an article and worked with my church to make it a drop off point. The Kenya's native language is Swahili, but they speak and read mostly English. The natives would much rather use their money to buy a goat or a sheep than a toothbrush or a Bible. The missionaries required a native to memorize several Bible verses and then gave them one of the Bibles we sent. In the end, the troop helped me to collect 224 Bibles to distribute.
