   Overview Minimize

Every two years, over 6,000 Scout Youths, Adult Scouters, Leaders, Volunteers, Parents, and Visitors attended Peterloon.

Like a miniature National Scout Jamboree,  Peterloon hosts a wide range of activities during the day from advancements to Troop and Patrol competitions.   Peterloon is also an opportunity to connect with many of the council's programs through the booths setup around the camp.  In the evening on Saturday,  Peterloon will also feature an arena show event for all of the 6,000 participants.

For full details on the event and activities, check out the Peterloon web site at www.danbeard.org/peterloon or checkout the Facebook page www.facebook.com/DBCPeterloon

Dear Troop 194,

This year's Peterloon is October 10-12, 2014 and the theme is, "Are you Tougher than a Boy Scout?...".  The cost of this event is $50.00.  This includes camping for the weekend, t-shirt, patch, and event activities.  Registration is due no later than September 9, 2014.  Registration forms will be available at the next two troop meetings (September 2nd and September 9th) and are attached below.  Below is some information from the council that better describes the event:

Peterloon has been a Dan Beard Council event since 1927 and is named for the family farm where the giant campout was originally held.  Two years ago, 5,460 Scouts (Troops, Crews, and Packs from 9 different Councils from over a four state area) from 193 Units attended Peterloon.

This year's theme is "Are you Tougher than a Boy Scout?..."  This theme will be presented throughout the program and especially in the Action Center area where you will experience a number of hands-on Scouting activities.  In addition, the program will also highlight the proud heritage of the Scouting organization.    Patrol and individual competitions, and many other fun activities will encourage Scouts to make new friends in their camping areas.  Scouts and Scouters alike will demonstrate their know-how and skills by participating in the various Action Center activities on Saturday.

The midway expands for 2014 with over 50 exhibitors and activities including spar pole climbing, helicopters, historical displays, and many other outdoor fun and educational events on hand.  The arena show will be more exciting than ever with a DJ, Scout Talent Show Performances and a Laser Light Show.

This is a great event and we hope that you are able to join us.  Please do not hesitate to contact me (513-259-1285 or pcoope22@gmail.com) if you have any questions or would like any additional information.

Yours In Scouting,

Phil Cooper
